About Bubba John's Shrimp & Seafood | In the Media
Bubba John's Shrimp and Seafood was born out of a love for the Gulf of Mexico, South Alabama and an abundance of great Seafood.
Bubba John's is a lifelong native of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, (just like the fictional Bubba and Forrest Gump). Shrimp trawlers have been supplied all over the world out of Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Bayou La Batre and her families have contributed greatly to that tradition, as well as supporting the surrounding communities and families.
Bubba John's is accomplished in throwing seafood boils all over Mobile County. They liken it to the phenomenon of Jubilee!! Bubba John's, hails from Mobile as well. His Mother is still a resident of Mobile, Alabama. John has long since moved to the Greater Kansas City area where in the day, he worked as a Golf Professional and made many lifetime friends in that industry.
Through many trips to South Alabama and lively conversation with Friends and Family, we are able to bring you the very best Seafood the Gulf has to offer. We launched in Raymore, Missouri as a test and brought up 500 lbs. of the freshest Gulf Shrimp. Only one week later Bubba John's needed more!! It was a hit in Kansas City and surrounding areas.
We offer a wholesale side to our store-front owners as well as our retail Seafood stand in Leawood, Kansas between State Line and Mission Road on 135th street.
Bubba John's brings the Freshest Gulf Seafood right to your table. All product is brought fresh out of the US FDA Inspected Fisheries, Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
Our commitment to this and a heart for service and a belief in providing the freshest and best seafood around, has us meeting and exceeding the expectations of all our customers.
Our number one question is how do we do it? We meet weekly with several of our representatives to select our product and drive it straight-way sixteen hours to this area.
Its simple, says BubbaJohn, "If we can put it on our families table, we feel confident you'll enjoy it on yours!"

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The Gulf oil spill has changed lives for America's fishing industry. The effects are being felt even here in Kansas City, especially for people who love shrimp. The seafood is an all-time favorite at Jasper's and has been on the menu for 56 years. But that doesn't stop customers from asking if shrimp are safe to eat, as they continue to hear more about the Gulf Coast oil spill.
"It's okay. Go ahead and eat the shrimp right now. It's being tested. It's probably better than it was before, because we know every piece is being tested right now that's coming out of the Gulf," said Jasper Mirabile Jr., chef and owner of Jasper's.
Bubba John agrees with Mirabile and knows better than most he says, because he sells shrimp at a south Kansas City roadside stand. John recently returned from Alabama's Gulf Coast, where he purchases his shrimp and its also where he grew up.
"Down there in the Gulf, we're survivors. We've been through Katrina. We know what hard times are. We will survive this. That's all we can do," John said.
He's also trying to survive by holding his prices steady, despite paying two dollars more a pound for the shrimp Kansas City loves.
